Sam graduated from the Harvard Graduate School of Education's Teacher Education Program with a focus on high school English. As part of this program, he spent the year teaching ninth grade English at Cambridge Rindge and Latin School, and taught last summer at the Cambridge-Harvard Summer Academy. For his undergrad at Penn State, Sam double majored in English and Philosophy while playing four years of Division I baseball, winning numerous academic awards as a student-athlete. A Boston native, Sam graduated from the Roxbury Latin School and attended Phillips Academy Andover for a postgraduate year.
In addition to teaching, Sam has coached youth baseball for five years. While coaching, he developed his tutoring skills, helping his players improve academically and helping them through the recruiting process. He has also done volunteer work with the Citizen Schools program, teaching and tutoring middle school students from Dorchester. When Sam is outside the world of academia, you can find him performing on weekends in the Boston area as an in-demand guitar player with various original and cover bands.
