In 2010, Phil received a B.A. degree from UCLA where he studied International Development and Spanish while also completing his pre-medical requirements. After scoring a 37 on the MCAT and being admitted to medical school at UCLA, he decided to switch career paths and instead pursue graduate studies in theology and philosophy. He is currently a Master of Divinity candidate at Harvard Divinity School and continues to teach and tutor both general and organic chemistry.
Phil's love for Spanish and development work led him to study abroad in Chile during college, volunteer for a year in Peru after graduation, and work with the international NGO Partners In Health in the several years since. He enjoys writing personal essays, dancing to soul music on Saturdays at Zuzu, and is a bit of a bibliophile who can often be found perusing the philosophy and spirituality sections of used bookstores.
