Literature & English Tutoring

Signet Literature and English tutors can draw students into the time period, genre, and style of the material they are studying.

Our tutors will guide you through challenging passages using close-reading techniques, and help you build the tools to parse complex texts on your own. Signet Literature and English tutors can help you understand basic narratives, stylistic conventions, figurative language, literary techniques so that you gain command over any text you wish to analyze.

The result: you’ll actually engage with what you’re reading, retain details and themes longer, and, we hope, enjoy yourself along the way.

Our tutors are also very familiar with the reading comprehension components of many standardized tests, as well as literatures from a range of time periods and cultures. At any level of Literature study, a Signet tutor can help you develop a masterful and real appreciation for the body of work you are studying.

We select Signet tutors in Literature and English from among those who hold doctorate and master’s degrees, PhD candidates, and experienced literature instructors. Signet’s Literature and English tutors are enthusiastic teachers with the skills to engage students who aren’t naturally drawn to literature. Our tutors’ analytical abilities, familiarity with critical theory, and experience facilitating dialogue and understanding enable them to help students of all levels. As with all subjects, we screen candidates for the depth of their expertise and then hire tutors based on their proven ability as teachers.
