Summer is a welcome break from a busy student's regular routine. More importantly, summer is a perfect time for students to explore activities that interest them, rather than participating in projects out of obligation. It offers a unique opportunity for students to create their own schedule while building agency and self-determination. Being able to deliberately choose how to spend your time is an important skill, and students who learn to do this well will benefit in college and into their adult lives.
In this guide, we’ll give an overview of the options on how to spend the summer break wisely, offer a plan for a productive summer that aligns with a student's personal goals, and help navigate the line between some much needed rest and turning into a couch potato.
