You know you’re a Junior if:
-
- You finally know what the letters in SAT, ACT, and GPA stand for.
- You signed up for the right classes, went to meetings for clubs, and tried out for teams.
- You dropped some of those clubs and didn’t go to every single tryout.
- You’ve karate chopped your schedule so your homework load is less than 8 hours a night.
- You still don’t know if you’re taking the right classes or doing the right extra stuff to get into the college you want to go to, but decide at some point, if it’s not broken you are not going to fix it.
- Every college on your lists of possible schools, from the furthest reach to the biggest safety, seems more fun than what you’re doing in class RIGHT NOW.
- You miss your freshman and sophomore years because life was easier then.
- You met with a guidance counsellor and talked about…THE FUTURE.
- You’ve attempted a practice standardized test and freaked out. You’re pretty sure those questions weren’t in English:

- You’ve finished a practice standardized test and did better than you thought!
- You’ve taken a for real, legit standardized test with a score that counts and did even better.
- You signed up to take another standardized test next year because you’re a glutton for punishment.
- You would rather think about cute people than acute angles.
- You don’t procrastinate anymore.
- Okay, you sometimes procrastinate, but at least you know the definition of the word “procrastination” and can use it correctly on a standardized test.
- You hope your senior year will be less random and stressful.
- You visited some of the colleges you want to go to and got really, really excited.
- You looked at your GPA and got really, really worried.
- You just realized you got more sleep when you were a sophomore.
- No, no, probably when you were a freshman.
- No, maybe you never slept enough.
- You resolve to get more sleep next year.
- Then you remember that next year is senior year (The Year of Applications)!
- You’re happy that you’re not a senior. Yet…
Does this list sound like you? Don’t stress; you can do this! You can make it through junior AND senior year, and beyond.
