COVID-19 Update

Dear Signet families,

Over the last week or so, we’ve been monitoring closely the COVID-19 situation and what it means for our community. Out of concern for the safety of our students, families, and tutors, we have made the decision to transition all Signet sessions online starting Monday 3/16 until further notice. While the physical Signet Center will be closed, the Signet administrative office will remain open, with all employees working remotely for the same period of time.

The decision to move to virtual instruction was not made lightly, as we recognize the other challenges our families are facing because of the virus. Our actions are consistent with the recommendations of leading health officials on how to limit the spread of COVID-19 and are also consistent with similar decisions made by a number of higher education institutions. We are working diligently behind the scenes with each individual tutor to make this transition as seamless as possible and to maintain pedagogical efficacy. Over 40% of our tutoring is already done online, so we have years of experience with the technology, tools, and best practices for online tutoring. We will be sharing some of those best practices in the coming weeks to support you during this uncertain time.

We are also aware that the March 14 SAT testing date has been cancelled. The College Board has currently canceled the makeup testing date planned for March 28 as well as the May 2 SAT testing date. Then April 4 ACT testing date has currently been rescheduled to June 13. This is a rapidly evolving situation that may change at any time without a lot of notice to families.

We understand that this is a troubling development, especially after your students have spent countless hours preparing for these exams. As we wait to hear what happens next, students can make sure they are staying sharp by continuing independent practice and review. If you work with one of our test prep tutors and your testing date has been cancelled, please reach out to us so we can determine your student’s best course of action.

As we progress through this disruption, please know that we’re here to be as helpful to you as possible. Feel free to reach out to us with any questions or concerns about this change or how COVID-19 may impact other aspects of your family’s educational journey.

Sincerely,

The Signet Team

Jay B.
